First published in 1966 in New York, this is one of only two novels ever written by Cohen. The New York Times described the work as a “ gorgeously written anguished, overwhelming prose-poem.”
Though now known as a musician, Cohen was focused on writing when he arrived in Hydra in the late 1950s. He was a magnetic figure in the artist and literary scene on Hydra and a well loved citizen of the island.
