Literary research, curation, and publication

THE HYDRA BOOK CLUB

The Hydra Book Club is now a permanent and evolving member of the cultural community on the island of Hydra, Greece. The installation serves three unified objectives as a museum exhibition, a community center, and a bookstore.

In it, we present and sell a thoroughly researched anthology of literary work by the community of Greek and international writers present on Hydra from the 1930s to the present. It was first presented in 2021, in the Historical Archives Museum of Hydra. Each year an additional conceptual theme is explored through research, presentation of new literary work, readings and events.

The social and community effect has resonated through the island’s different populations, and even far beyond its shores.

Hydra is home to many artists, writers, and thinkers, enjoys a diverse international group of visitors, and has an active cultural season. The Hydra Book Club has created a new literary hub for everyone living on or visiting the island.

THE JOURNAL OF THE HYDRA BOOK CLUB

The Journal of the Hydra Book Club is an annual printed edition of literature, criticism, and image.

Hydra is a place of great artistic confluence. For nearly one hundred years the island has been illuminated by Greek and international writers and artists. We apply this confluence model to print media as we engage with a range of writers, artists, curators, critics, and photographers both on and off the island of Hydra.
