DE STIJL, VISIONS OF UTOPIA, 1917-1931

€125.00

Published in 1982 by Phaidon Press Ltd, with a foreward by Mildred Friedman, an introduction by Hans Jaffé, and essays by prominent Dutch, Canadian and American scholars. This beautiful hardcover edition was published to coincide with an exhibition organized by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and which later went to the Hirschorn Museum in Washington DC, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

Though at first glance unrelated to our ususal themes, this intellectual movement, intent on merging artistic media to create a unity of meaning is a utopian action which gives much insight into our life in Hydra. This movement began as a publication - a monthly review allowing these thinkers to engage with a broad range of artists outside their immediate discipline.

This edition is in FINE condition with only the slightest signs of age and use.
